Breakfast Series: Managing the Expectations in Business Families - Manitoba
Tell a Friend About This EventTell a Friend

Do you ever struggle with what is fair? Necessary? Undiscussable? You are not alone. Business Families are innately complex. Each person represents a particular role within family, business and ownership. With each role comes diverse expectations of self and others. It is not unusual to be completely unaware of what others expect. Assumptions, ideas and emotions show up in all kinds of expectations. It is easy to become confused and uncertain about what’s going on.

Consider what you expect of yourself as a parent. A spouse? Sibling? Employee? Manager? Owner? Whatever the role, we have three levels of influence that can define our relationships with others: our formal title, our level of knowledge and experience, and our personality. When we develop more awareness of how expectations weave through our role and levels of influence in family, business and ownership, we make choices that will consistently align with our values - the foundation of every business family.

This presentation provides a platform to become more curious about what triggers conflict and misunderstanding, recognize a productive way to communicate, and develop more clarity and confidence in your roles within family, business and ownership.

KEY LEARNING OUTCOMES:
1. Develop deeper awareness and clarity about your communication patterns.
2. Assess and improve the communication practices in Family, Business and Ownership systems
3. Increase confidence in managing the natural dilemmas that occur in different stages of family business growth and succession.
4. Recognize that healthy effective communication is the result of an intentional and conscious commitment.
